How we built Contextología: designing a reference system for AI in Spanish

Published: 20 May 20256 min read

There was no serious reference in Spanish for context engineering, RAG, and AI agents. So we built one. Here is what the process looked like — and why structure mattered more than content.

The problem was simple: if you wanted to learn how to design AI systems properly — not just write prompts, but architect context, build RAG pipelines, design agents — almost all the quality material was in English. Spanish-speaking practitioners had to navigate between machine-translated documentation, shallow tutorials, and content that treated AI as a tool rather than a discipline.

We decided to build the resource we wished existed.

What Contextología actually is

Contextología is a reference platform for AI systems design in Spanish. It covers context engineering, AI agents, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), workflows, and prompt engineering — not as isolated topics, but as a coherent system of practice.

The core thesis is simple: the value in AI is no longer in the prompts. It is in designing good context systems. A well-structured RAG pipeline with mediocre prompts will outperform excellent prompts with no architecture. Contextología exists to teach that distinction.

The platform has 59 articles, 14 free tools, and a 27-term glossary — all in Spanish, all built around practical application rather than theoretical survey.

The design problem

Building a reference platform is a different challenge from building a product. A product has a clear user flow. A reference platform has to serve multiple entry points, multiple levels of expertise, and multiple use cases simultaneously.

We structured Contextología around six topic areas: Context Engineering, AI Agents, RAG, Workflows, Prompt Engineering, and a reference section. Each area is self-contained but cross-linked — you can enter from any direction and find a coherent path through the material.

The tools section came later. We noticed that practitioners kept needing the same small utilities: token calculators, prompt generators, model comparators. Rather than point to third-party tools, we built them into the platform. Fourteen tools, all free, all in Spanish.

Why it matters for studios like ours

Building Contextología changed how we work with AI systems for clients. Having to articulate the principles clearly enough to teach them forces a different level of understanding. The platform is not just a resource — it is a working document of our own practice.
